The Driver is based on a Performance Small-Wave Shortboard Template. It is constructed using our Epoxy Hybrid Construction Style with the addition of EVA Parabolic Rolled Rails

This makes it suitable for smaller conditions but ensures it wouldn't be out of place if the waves turned on.

As it is still a softboard after all, we've given it just a touch of extra width and thickness to ensure it paddles well and is easy to ride in average conditions.

It's got relatively relaxed rocker, although a medium nose rocker ensures it will be suitable for steeper takeoffs. The tail rocker is still quite low, to ensure it retains its speed easily, while still having enough to enhance maneuverability.

We've opted to use a slightly wider, Rounded Square tail to create the perfect mix of looseness, release and hold.

It features a Thruster Fin Set up using Futures Fin boxes.

    Softlite Hybrid Range

We've been working on the Hybrid Series for a couple of years now, but it has finally come to life!

Like name suggests, we've combined the favourable elements from both a Performance Fibreglass Boards & an Entry Level Softboard to create a range of softboards with a a greater focus on Performance.

    SOFTLITE
    HYBRID RANGE

    HIGH PERFORMANCE FUN
    WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

    Hybrid Construction Styles

The construction consists of a Stringered EPS Core, wrapped in Fibreglass Cloth & Epoxy Resin, which is then encapsulated by a traditional Softboard deck skin and slick.

The major addition (in comparison to regular Softlite Construction) is the addition of the Fibreglass Internal Membrane.

Each Softlite Hybrid Series board contains 3 layers of 6oz Fibreglass set with Epoxy Resin on the Deck Side, and 1 layer of 6oz on the slick.

As a bit of a comparison, Standard Fibreglass Shortboards usually contain 2 X 4oz or 6oz on the Deck, an 1 x 4oz or 6oz on the slick.

    WHATS THAT MEAN?

    HIGHER PERFORMANCE

The Hybrid Construction style has allowed us to create softboards that are much closer to a traditional fibreglass surfboard.

The addition of the Fibreglass Membrane makes them considerably stiffer, which increases the speed you are able to generate from your bottom turn and maintain through turns.

The added strength has also allowed us to make them a touch thinner which aids in increasing responsiveness and manoeuvrability.

    CNC SHAPED CORES

To compliment the construction style, we've created new shapes with a greater emphasis on Performance.

The CNC technology allows us to make make minute adjustments to all aspects of the template, which ultimately has delivered a higher quality product.

AKU Shape Technology also allows for the addition of bottom contours.

    FUTURES FIN BOXES

All Hybrid Models feature Futures Fin Boxes, with a set of Plastic Comp Fins Included with each board.

This ensures it is easy to install and remove fins, and is compatible with other Future Fins, allowing you to change your fins to suit conditions or alter board performance.

This also allows us to have a Deck without fin screws

    PARABOLIC ROLLED RAILS

We've also done our best to solve the #1 problem of softboards - the rails! The Hybrid Range features an updated version of our Parabolic Rolled Rail Technology.

These are then hand shaped, allowing softer rails near the nose tapering down to a sharp, harder edged rail at the tail. Similar to regular fibreglass surfboards, it allows if to be forgiving and not catch rails up front, but gives it a bit more bite making it easier to turn off the tail.

I have been surfing since I was 12 now 40 I always used traditional fibreglass short boards so I thought I would try a Softlite Driver for something different and it’s amazing in 1to4 ft punchy conditions very fast and skatey and also goes quiet well in sloppy conditions as well a great all rounder and the build quality is great these things are near on indestructible.

    6’2 Hybrid Driver

Bought this for my 11 year old who has been surfing once a week for over a year on surf school boards. Was worried that it would be too short coming from 6’6 and 7’ boards and have too little volume but he is having a blast and all his instructors are saying how quickly he is progressing. It’s light enough for him to carry and its not too wide that paddling is difficult. Once he is up he’s able to trim and ride down the line with ease and is now ready for proper turns. As with all Softlite boards it’s strong and I don’t have to worry about dinging it like a hard board. This is our 4th Soflite and as always the team are really helpful in choosing the right board. Thanks once again. Great boards from a great company. Cheers Guys.
