The Mad Lab is a brand new model for Summer 2024/25.

It combines a hybrid construction style with a fun board template to create a premium soft board designed to suit most skill levels, and perform in a wider variety of wave conditions.

The Hybrid Construction takes favourable elements from both a Performance Fibreglass Boards & an Entry Level Softboard to create a board with a greater focus on performance, whilst still retaining the fun & safe characteristics of a softboard. In short, this allows us to create boards that are a little stiffer & thinner than regular softboards leading to increased speed and responsiveness.

The Funboard template is slightly more pulled in through the nose and tail compared to our Mini Mals, which once again makes it just that little bit more maneuverable for advanced riders or intermediates looking to progress. Similarly, this template is also suited to slightly higher-quality or steeper wave conditions as well.

Note on Comfort and Foam Deck Materials:
Soft surfboards are designed with foam materials, such as EVA foam rails or textured crocodile deck skins, for durability and performance. However, it’s important to note that these materials can sometimes cause rashes or shavings on the inner thighs of riders, especially during extended use.

This is a normal aspect of foam surfboard design and is not a defect. To ensure maximum comfort and prevent irritation, we recommend wearing protective surf gear, such as surf leggings, neoprene pants, or long johns/wetsuits. These are designed not only to keep you warm but also to provide a barrier against potential discomfort while riding.

We hope this helps you have the best experience in the water!

    MAD LAB KEY FEATURES

    HYBRID CONSTRUCTION STYLE

The Mad Lab uses stringered EPS Core, wrapped in fibreglass cloth, wood veneer deck reinforcement & epoxy resin, which is then encapsulated by a traditional Softboard EVA Deck Skin and HD Slick.

The result is a board that is considerably stiffer which increases the speed you are able to generate from your bottom turn and maintain through turns.

It also allows us to make them a touch thinner which aids in increasing responsiveness and manoeuvrability.

    CNC SHAPED PERFORMANCE TEMPLATE

This Model uses a Funboard style which can best be described as an 'in-between' shape between a Short board shape and a Mini Mal. It even has a few characteristics of a fish shape in there...

Ridden a little bigger it is suitable for beginners, while a slightly pulled in and thinned out nose and tail makes it a pretty rippable board for experienced riders.

Similarly a high widepoint and generous thickness around the chest will help it in small weak waves, while a little extra nose and tail rocker means it will be manageable in steeper waves too.

Overall, it is an extremely versatile and suitable for a wider variety of skill levels and wave conditions.

    TEXTURED DECK

This is probably a little more for comfort and convenience than performance, but we've added a full length, textured EVA deck. This helps to ensure you are never short of traction and only a minimal amount of wax is ever required - a light wax every couple of surfs should do!

    FUTURES FIN SYSTEM

This ensures it is easy to install and remove fins, and is compatible with other Future Fins, allowing you to change your fins to suit conditions or alter board performance.
